 riginal popular locacation in Culver City. A large half roasted garlic chicken arrives hot($9). First the table is set with pressed garlic bread. The platter is completed by sweet onions, fried plantains and sided with black beans and white rice. All goes fine with sweetened house raspberry iced tea. A dark folk restaurant with superbly eager service. The chicken is marinated in what tastes like a preserved lemon, mint garlic sauce though the bottles they sell say bitter orange is the citronic element($3.50). Bread is a sliced simple French baguette painted with garlic butter then pressed flat in a large iron until toasted. One downside is that the cooking is very uneven. You can come in after lunch hour and have a very tired chicken.
